Kick It Out statement on England and Chelsea striker Eni Aluko

Following allegations made by England and Chelsea striker Eni Aluko, Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, has released the following statement.

The statement reads:

“Kick It Out notes on record the new revelations made by Eni Aluko, outside of the confidentiality agreement, which throw new light onto the allegations of alleged racist behaviour by England Women’s National Team manager Mark Sampson and the culture within the coaching set-up.

“This is contrary to the statement by The Football Association made last week, in which they made clear her allegations did not have any substance. The situation regarding this is now one of utter confusion with claims and counter-claims.

“Kick It Out urges The FA to undertake a comprehensive and independent review of the processes involved in the original complaint made by Aluko up to the final point of the independent investigation by Katharine Newton QC.

“This is so they can take on board any lessons learned, to remedy any deficiencies identified and to ensure it has an operational culture that treats any individual, whatever their background, equally, fairly and with dignity and respect.

“The FA must ensure a situation like this will never happen again in order to build trust, confidence and credibility.”
